What Is Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) or Follicular Unit Grafting (FUG)?

FUT, also known as FUG or the Strip Method, is a popular hair transplant technique for women with advanced thinning because it enables your surgeon to move many follicular grafts in a single procedure. The transplanted hair continues to grow, allowing you to keep your own hair. With meticulous artistry, FUT/FUG provides a natural-looking hairline and crown, making it virtually impossible for anyone, including yourself, to detect the difference.

How Does FUT/FUG Work?

Mane Image, partnering with PAI Medical Group, performs the FUT/FUG procedure in-house, guaranteeing professionalism and comfort. During the procedure, you will be under local anesthesia, so you won't feel any pain. A certified PAI surgeon removes a strip of skin and hair from the back or side of your head. This strip is then divided into individual hair follicles, which are inserted into small incisions in the areas experiencing hair loss, resulting in a natural, healthy-looking head of real, growing hair.

It's important to note that although the surgeon will take the strip from the most inconspicuous area possible, a linear scar will remain where the donor strip was removed. However, in most cases, this scar fades over time.

How Much Does a Hair Transplant Cost?

The cost of a hair transplant will vary per person but will typically cost between $5,800 - $16,800. There are different factors that impact the price such as:

  • Scalp Health
  • Genetics of Hair
  • Health of Donor Area
  • Number of Procedures
  • Number of Grafts
  • Scars or Medications
  • Current Hair Follicles
  • Amount of Hair Loss
