Latest Treatments That Help With Hair Loss

The medical terminology for hair loss is alopecia. Currently, more than 30 million women and men in the United States experience hair loss. Hair loss can affect some parts of the scalp or evenly cover the whole head. Some cases of hair loss can be due to medical reasons, temporary reasons or permanent. We recommend that when you start noticing any loss in your hair, you seek professional assistance for early diagnosis and treatment from a hair loss specialist.

Causes of Hair Loss

Hair loss has been attributed to many causes; these vary from medical, genetics to chemicals in certain shampoos. In most cases, hair loss occurs due to genetics; a condition referred to male or female pattern baldness.

Medical procedures such as chemotherapy have hair loss as one of their side effects. When you are exposed to radiation, the hair follicles are affected, resulting in interfered hair growth. Other medical conditions, such as Lupus and kidney failure, also causes hair loss. Medical conditions that cause hair loss include stress and trauma, extended periods of sickness, and weight gains or loss.

There are other causes of hair loss in both men and women, such as hormonal complications that contribute to loss of significant amounts of hair. However, most of these causes are treatable.

Treatment of Hair Loss

Although hair loss caused by some factors such as genetics is not reversible, there are several treatments available that can help you restore your confidence with a full head of hair.

The treatments vary from application of given hair treatment products to surgical operations. The most common treatment and replacement processes include;

CNC Hair Prosthesis

The CNC is a biomedical polymer with antibacterial and antimicrobial properties developed by the CRLAB based in Bologna, Italy. The CNC foundation is made to perfectly match the color of your skin through 3D printing technology, which generates a replica of your scalp. The scalp replica is then injected with virgin hair, which can be styled to match your growing hair or give you a completely new look.

With this technology, the hair is attached to the scalp strand by strand allowing you to take part in activities such as swimming without being worried. However, the hair will require a monthly treatment which involves removing the hair and cleaning it then reattaching and styling it.

Minoxidil (Rogaine)

This is an over the counter treatment method and requires no prescription. Rogaine comes in the form of a solution whose concentration ranges from 2% to more than 5%. It is applied on the scalp once or twice a day for treatment. Rogaine mainly maintains the remaining hair from being lost and does not restore already lost hair.

Finasteride (Propecia)

This treatment is for men with androgenic alopecia. It is simply a lower dose version of Proscar, a commercially available drug that helps in reducing enlarged prostates in middle-aged and older men.

Propecia reduces hair loss by inhibiting the action of hormones on the hair follicles that causes balding.

Lower-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

This treatment process involves the use of a laser comb, headband, or a small helmet. The laser does not burn the scalp tissue. Instead, they stimulate the blood flow to the hair roots. This ensures nutrients needed for hair growth are sufficiently supplied.

Using theLLLT treatment method results in thicker and fuller hair after about six months. However, this method may not be of help if you are completely bald.

Surgical Hair Transplants

Hair transplant involves transplanting hair from one part of the head and attaching it to a region affected by hair loss. It might also involve cutting of bald patches and stitching the remaining parts of the scalp together.

Other Remedies

There are a lot more different ways of handling hair loss. These might be using hair pieces such as extensions and toppers. Observing a healthy and stress-free lifestyle will also reduce hair loss since stress can also cause hair loss. Also, home remedies such as eating food rich in nutrients necessary for hair growth are applied.
